Zindagi Sy Pehly

“Zindagi Se Pehlay” is a flagship community health initiative of the Human Development & Peace Organization (HDPO) aimed at transforming maternal health outcomes across underserved and rural regions of Pakistan. The initiative recognizes that the health of a child begins not at birth, but before life itself—with the health, awareness, and well-being of the mother during pregnancy.

With Pakistan facing alarming rates of maternal and infant mortality, malnutrition, lack of antenatal care, and limited access to quality reproductive health services—particularly in rural and marginalized communities—this program seeks to bridge critical gaps in awareness, accessibility, and support for mothers during the most vital phase of life: before life begins.

Core Objectives:

Primary Objective:

To improve maternal health and pre-natal care outcomes by increasing awareness, providing health services, and fostering supportive community systems in target regions.

Specific Objectives:

  • To conduct community-based awareness sessions on pre-natal care, danger signs, and birth preparedness.
  • To promote maternal nutrition and dietary awareness through counseling and distribution of supplements.
  • To increase the number of women receiving at least 4 antenatal checkups.
  • To connect mothers with local Lady Health Workers (LHWs), midwives, and obstetric services.
  • To reduce maternal and neonatal mortality through early intervention and education.
  • To integrate male family members (especially husbands and fathers-in-law) in maternal health discussions.
